Step process · same every job

No surprises.
Same 10 steps, every job.

Whether the job is a single socket replacement or a full three-phase rewire of a commercial unit, we run the same ten-step process. You see what is happening at every stage, you have an indicative written quote before any work starts, and you finish with a signed BS 7671 certificate, a NAPIT-issued Part P compliance notice and a 6-year workmanship warranty. All prices are quoted as “from £” and include VAT at 20 percent.

Indicative pricing notice

All prices on this site and on our quotes are shown as “from £” per-job indicative figures. Every electrical job is variable — cable runs, board condition, accessibility, certification scope and material costs all move the final figure. We never list-price a job as if a fixed amount applies to every property. The exact figure is confirmed in writing after the free site survey, valid for 30 days, and includes VAT at 20 percent.

From the first call
to a 6-year warranty.

Every step has a clear deliverable, a time estimate and a customer-visible touchpoint. You always know what happens next.

01
Step 01 · ~30 min on-site · free, no obligation

Free site survey

Book by phone (07889 334849), WhatsApp, or the online form at /quote/. Dan attends in person, takes around 30 minutes, photographs every relevant area, takes measurements and runs a condition assessment of the existing wiring (consumer unit, earthing, bonding, accessible cabling, RCD provision). No obligation, no booking fee, no follow-up sales pressure.

  • You see: Dan on the doorstep with ID, voltage indicator and clipboard
  • You receive: a verbal scope summary on the day and confirmation that a written quote is on the way
  • If we are out of area or it is not our specialism, we say so on the visit — not after
02
Step 02 · Within 48 hours · PDF by email

Indicative written quote

An itemised PDF quote lands in your inbox within 48 hours, headed with a unique QUO-XXX number. Pricing language is “from £” on every line because every job has variables (cable runs, accessibility, board condition). The quote shows what is included — Part P notification via NAPIT 66245, BS 7671 EIC certificate, all materials, labour, VAT at 20 percent. It also shows what is not included: decorating, plastering, carpentry, redecoration after chase‑outs.

  • You receive: PDF quote, valid for 30 days, BACS payment details, T&Cs link
  • Variations are only added with your written agreement and a separate variation quote
  • BS 7671 regulations, Part P scope and any insurer requirements are referenced explicitly
03
Step 03 · Lead time 1–3 weeks · same-week emergencies

Schedule & confirm

Once you accept the quote in writing, you are booked into the calendar. Typical lead time is 1 to 3 weeks for full jobs (rewires, fuse-boards, EV chargers, commercial first fixes), and same-week for emergencies (no power, exposed live, immediate fire risk). You receive a confirmed slot via calendar invite or text confirmation, plus the materials-deposit invoice on larger jobs.

  • You receive: written start-date confirmation, deposit invoice (where applicable), site arrival window
  • Tenant access coordinated for landlord properties
  • DNO (Western Power) and supply isolation booked in advance where the work requires it
04
Step 04 · 2–3 days for full house rewire

First fix (rough-in)

Cable runs, back-boxes, conduit and chases. On heritage properties we never use surface trunking — cables go in lath-and-plaster voids, original chases or under floorboards, lifted and re-laid sympathetically. Expect a degree of dust and disruption during chasing — this is unavoidable, but minimised with FFP3 dust extraction at the tool. Furniture is moved or covered, dust sheets cover all floors and soft furnishings.

  • You see: dust sheets down before any tool comes out, a tidy site at end of each day
  • Time estimate: 2–3 days for a full house rewire first fix; 1 day for a fuse‑board or EV charger
  • Power is isolated circuit-by-circuit so you keep lighting and fridge supply wherever possible
05
Step 05 · Customer walk-through · 30 min

Mid-job inspection between fixes

Before second fix begins, you walk the property with Dan. Every back-box position, switch height, socket location, dimmer placement, USB-socket spec and smart-component scope is checked against your expectations. This is the right moment to change a switch from one-gang to two-gang, add a USB outlet to a bedside socket, or swap an accessory finish — before any faceplates are fitted. Any agreed changes are added to the variation quote and signed off in writing.

  • You see: every cable end and back-box before it disappears behind a faceplate
  • Late changes after second fix are still possible but will incur extra labour
  • Heritage and listed properties: any deviation from the original survey is checked against listing constraints first
06
Step 06 · 1–2 days for full house rewire

Second fix — accessories & smart components

Faceplates, switches and sockets fitted. Our default accessory range is Click Scolmore Deco / Deco Plus screwless metallic — brushed steel, satin chrome, polished chrome, antique brass and matt black available. Dimmer modules paired with the lamp type, faceplates levelled, every accessory labelled internally with circuit reference. Smart components (Hue, Hive, Nest) installed and commissioned only where scoped on the quote.

  • You see: levelled, screwless faceplates with no visible fixings
  • CCTV (Hikvision authorised installer) commissioned at this stage if scoped
  • Every circuit labelled inside the consumer unit with engraved or printed identifiers
07
Step 07 · ~1 day · full BS 7671 testing

Test & inspect (BS 7671 18th Ed Amd 2)

Every circuit is dead-tested then live-tested with a calibrated Megger MFT 1741 multifunction tester (UKAS-traceable annual calibration). Insulation resistance at 500 V DC, earth-loop impedance Zs, RCD trip-time at ½× and 5× IΔn, continuity R1+R2, polarity, prospective fault current. Every reading is recorded individually against each circuit on the Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC).

  • You receive: full schedule of test results — readings for every circuit, every test parameter
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing-qualified, working to BS 7671:2018+A2:2022
  • Any non-conformance is corrected before the certificate is issued — you do not receive a partial pass
08
Step 08 · Same day EIC · NAPIT certificate within 28 days

Certify & notify

The signed BS 7671 EIC (Electrical Installation Certificate) is issued the same day testing completes. Part P notifiable work is lodged with Local Authority Building Control via NAPIT 66245 the same evening. NAPIT post the official Building Control compliance certificate direct to your address within 28 days — you do nothing. A digital copy is emailed to you alongside the EIC.

  • You receive: EIC same day (PDF), NAPIT compliance certificate within 28 days (post + PDF)
  • Minor Works Certificate issued instead for additions or alterations
  • EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) issued for periodic inspections
09
Step 09 · ~30 min · on completion day

Handover & demo

Walk-through with you, the customer. We demonstrate every new circuit, switch, smart function, EV charger app, CCTV NVR or Wi-Fi access point. You receive a printed and digital handover pack: signed EIC PDF, manufacturer warranty terms for every product fitted, NAPIT compliance details, photo log of the whole job, and a personal contact card with both directors’ numbers and the NAPIT escalation contact.

  • You receive: handover pack PDF, plus printed copy in a folder if you prefer paper
  • Demo of any smart components (Hue / Hive / Nest) including app pairing
  • BACS payment due on receipt of final invoice (SI-numbered, VAT@20% inclusive)
10
Step 10 · 6-year warranty · follow-up at 1 month + 1 year

6-year warranty & follow-up

Workmanship is backed for 6 years through NAPIT’s Insurance Backed Guarantee scheme on Part P notifiable work, plus our own 12-month direct workmanship guarantee on every job (no fine-print exclusions). We call back at 1 month for a snag-check, and again at 1 year for a proactive check-in — before issues become problems. With your permission, a photograph of the finished installation is added to /gallery.html.

  • You keep: NAPIT IBG cover for 6 years — protects you if we cease trading
  • Manufacturer warranties layered on top — typically 2–5 years on accessories, fuse boards, EV chargers
  • 1-month + 1-year proactive callback — we phone you, you don’t have to chase us

What we never do.

Five practices we refuse to use, even when the rest of the trade does. If any of these are dealbreakers for you — they are also dealbreakers for us.

No 1

Fixed-price headline lies

No “rewire any house £X” ads. Every job is from-priced and confirmed in writing after a survey.

No 2

No-show or silent reschedules

If we are running late, you get a call before the slot ends. Booked dates are not moved without your sign-off.

No 3

Leave site dirty

Daily tidy-up at the end of every shift. Final hoover and wipe-down before handover, every job.

No 4

Ignore Building Regs

Every notifiable circuit is BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 compliant. No shortcuts on bonding, RCD protection, AFDD or SPD where regs require.

No 5

Work without notification

All Part P notifiable work is lodged with NAPIT 66245. No undocumented installs — ever.

Five artifacts in your inbox
at handover.

A handover pack that satisfies landlord compliance, lender surveys, insurer audits and Building Control — with nothing missing.

01

BS 7671 EIC certificate

NAPIT-issued EIC, Minor Works or EICR, signed and dated, every circuit’s test readings recorded. Valid for landlord registration, mortgage surveys, insurance claims, commercial compliance audits.

02

Building Control certificate

Official Part P notification posted by NAPIT 66245 to your address within 28 days of completion. Mandatory for property sale, lender surveys and landlord registration.

03

Photo record

Photo log of board interiors, cable terminations, isolators, route runs and finished accessories. Useful for future works, insurance evidence and your own records.

04

Manufacturer warranties

2–5 year warranty terms for every product fitted — Click Scolmore accessories, fuse boards, EV chargers, smart components (Hue / Hive / Nest), CCTV (Hikvision).

05

6-year NAPIT IBG

NAPIT Insurance Backed Guarantee on Part P notifiable work for 6 years. Covers you if we cease trading. Plus our own 12-month direct workmanship warranty layered on top.

Frequently asked.

If your question is not below, call Dan on 07889 334849 — we would rather have a 5-minute conversation than guess on a contact form.

What is the typical lead time from quote to install?
2 to 6 weeks for most jobs from the date you accept the quote. Smaller jobs — consumer-unit upgrades, single-circuit faults, EV chargers — often start within 1 to 2 weeks. Full house rewires and three-phase commercial works typically take 4 to 8 weeks to schedule. Emergency callouts (no power, exposed live, immediate fire risk) are dealt with same day where possible.
Do you take a deposit?
For most domestic jobs under £2,000 there is no deposit. For larger projects (rewires, fuse-boards, EV chargers, commercial works) we typically request a 25 percent materials deposit on acceptance, with the balance due on completion. All values are quoted plus VAT at 20 percent. Payment is by BACS transfer to the bank details on the invoice — no card surcharges, no payment-platform fees.
How do I pay?
Payment is by BACS transfer only. Bank details and our payment reference are printed on every quote and invoice. We do not accept card payments at the door, and we do not request payment until the work is complete and the certificate is issued (other than the materials deposit on larger jobs). Invoices are SI-numbered (continuing the established sequence) and inclusive of VAT at 20 percent.
What happens if my installation fails the EICR?
If an EICR comes back unsatisfactory (a C1 code or multiple C2 codes), you receive a separate written remedial quote itemised against each coded observation. You are not obliged to use us for the remedial works. If you do, we re-test only the affected circuits on completion, issue a Minor Works or full revised EICR, and provide updated paperwork. No remedial work is started without your written acceptance.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. All workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion. Manufacturer warranties on accessories, EV chargers, fuse boards and cabling apply on top — typically 2 to 5 years depending on product. As a NAPIT registered contractor (NAPIT 66245), your installation is also covered by NAPIT’s Insurance Backed Guarantee for 6 years on Part P notifiable work, providing protection if we cease trading.
